The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described in the PI.

Some early built 2005 HUMMER SUT models (up to VIN 5H101000) may exhibit a rattle in the midgate. The most probable cause for this is looseness between the pieces of sheet metal that make up the midgate glass run channels on either the left or right hand side. Gain access to the affected glass run channel by removing the primary midgate seal in the area of the glass run channel and the upper lock pillar trim. Replace the upper and lower spot welds on the run channel by using a drill and fill weld procedure. Grind excess weld to assure that there is no interference with the installation of the seal or the interior trim piece.
