Underbody Rattle While Driving or Buzz Noise When Backing Up - kw body case exhaust rear reverse suspension transfer

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom described in the PI.

Underbody rattle while driving or buzz noise when backing up

If a underbody rattle is heard while driving the vehicle or a buzzing sound from the underbody when backing up slowly, check for contact between the transfer case shield and the bottom of the transfer case housing. If the shield is contacting the transfer case, install 4  mm thick washers between the shield and the frame at all frame attachment locations.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance.
