Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the luggage carrier, if equipped. Refer to Luggage Carrier Replacement in Roof.
  2. Use a heat gun in order to heat the molding and the surrounding sheet metal to 82-93°C (180-200°F).
  3. Remove the roof joint molding.
  4. Use a flat bladed tool in order to pry off the molding between the sealer and the joint. Use pliers or a similar tool in order to handle the hot molding and pull the molding loose. The molding and the sealer should come off in 1 piece.

    Do not damage the paint on the cab.

  5. Clean the joint in order to remove any remaining sealer. Sealer could interfere with the fit of the replacement molding.

Installation Procedure

Important: Preheat the sheet metal in order to melt the sealer and bond the molding into the joint. Sealer begins to flow at approximately 93°C (200°F).

  1. Use a heat gun in order to heat the cab in the joint area. Preheat the sheet metal to approximately 93°C (200°F).
  2. Install the molding.
  3. Use a roller to completely wet-out the adhesive bond.
  4. Install the luggage carrier, if equipped. Refer to Luggage Carrier Replacement in Roof.
