Windshield Wipers and Washers May Come On Without Being Turned On and/or Continue to Run (Replace Windshield Washer Solvent Heater)

Some customers may comment that the windshield wipers and washers come on without being turned on and/or continue to run after the wipers are turned off.

This condition may be caused by moisture contacting the circuit board of the windshield washer solvent heater.

Technicians are to replace the windshield washer solvent heater with P/N 15949649, which is designed for 2007 model year vehicles. Refer to the Windshield Washer Solvent Heater Replacement procedure in SI (Document ID# 1679852). Customers may notice a change in the way the heated windshield washer solvent system operates after the windshield washer solvent heater is replaced.

Model year 2006 vehicles have a "Stand-by" mode feature that begins to heat the windshield washer solvent five seconds after the ignition is turned to ON. This mode of operation is changed with the new part and the system will function as 2007 model year vehicles do. Model year 2007 vehicles function in an "Automatic" mode where it takes 30-40 seconds for hot windshield washer solvent to become available.
