Removal Procedure

    Notice: Do not start the vehicle with any power steering gear inlet or outlet hoses disconnected. When disconnected, plug or cap all openings of components. Failure to do so could result in contamination or loss of power steering fluid and damage to the system.

  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Position a drain pan under the vehicle.
  3. Remove the engine protection shield. Refer to Engine Protection Shield Replacement .
  4. Important: While performing service on power steering system components that are disconnected, plug or cap all openings . Failure to do so could result in contamination or loss of power steering fluid and damage to the system

  5. Disconnect the brake booster inlet hose fitting from the power steering pump. Discard the O-ring seal.
  6. Lower the vehicle.

  7. Object Number: 1831018  Size: SH
  8. Disconnect the brake booster inlet hose fitting from the brake booster. Discard the O-ring seal.
  9. Important: Note the brake booster inlet hose routing prior to removal to aid during installation.

  10. Remove the brake booster inlet hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: The inlet and outlet hoses must not be twisted during installation. Do not bend or distort the inlet or outlet hoses to make installation easier. Failure to follow these procedures could result in component damage.

  1. Position the brake booster inlet hose to the vehicle.

  2. Object Number: 1831018  Size: SH
  3. Using a new O-ring seal, connect the brake booster inlet hose to the brake booster. Hand tighten only.
  4. Raise the vehicle.
  5. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  6. Using a new O-ring seal, connect the brake booster inlet hose to the power steering pump.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the brake booster inlet hose fitting to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

  8. Install the engine protection shield. Refer to Engine Protection Shield Replacement .
  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Tighten the brake booster inlet hose fitting at the brake booster.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the brake booster inlet hose fitting to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

  12. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
  13. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
