    • Surface Cleaner (50 percent isopropyl alcohol, FS-1082 hi-flash naphtha or equivalent)
    • Adhesion Promoter GM P/N 12378462 (Canadian P/N 10953554)

Procedure

Important: Please review this entire procedure before trying to perform it.

  1. Using the Scan Tool, perform the Copy and Paste TPM Information procedure. This will extract the TPM Tire Type information as well as the sensor data from the existing RCDLR prior to its replacement and store this information in the scan tool. After RCDLR replacement, the tire type and sensor data stored in the scan tool is written to the new RCDLR, negating the need to perform the tire type setup and sensor learn procedure. This must be performed BEFORE removing the old RCDLR. Refer to Remote Control Door Lock Receiver Programming and Setup
  2. Remove the factory remote control door lock receiver antenna. Refer to Remote Control Door Lock Receiver Antenna Replacement.
  3. Physically replace the factory remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR) with the 2-way RCDLR included in the kit. Refer to Remote Control Door Lock Receiver Replacement. Do not program or reassemble yet.

  4. Object Number: 2064717 Size: MF
  5. Using a surface cleaner (50 percent isopropyl alcohol, FS-1082 hi-flash naphtha or equivalent), clean the areas of the front and back surface of the right windshield side garnish molding where the antenna and antenna cable will be secured.
  6. Dry the molding thoroughly using a lint-free cloth.
  7. Important:

       • The adhesion promoter must be used to assure adequate bonding of the antenna.
       • Mask off or protect visible areas before applying the adhesion promoter.

  8. Apply Adhesion Promoter GM P/N 12378462 (Canadian P/N 10953554) to the molding in the areas where you will install the antenna and the antenna cable. Follow the Adhesion Promoter instructions on the product label. Use a=190 mm (7 1/2 in), b=67 mm (2 5/8 in), and c=88 mm (3 7/16 in) for the dimensions on the figure.

  9. Object Number: 2064723 Size: SH

    Important:

       • Position the antenna according to the figure provided.
       • Do not touch the adhesive pad on the antenna.

  10. Remove the protective film from the adhesive pad on the antenna.
  11. Align the antenna according to the figure, using a=190 mm (7 1/2 in), b=67 mm (2 5/8 in), and c=88 mm (3 7/16 in).
  12. Press firmly all along the antenna, including all four corners of the adhesive pad, in order to ensure proper adhesion to the molding.
  13. Hold pressure on the antenna for 10-30 seconds.

  14. Object Number: 2064728 Size: MF
  15. Route the antenna cable (3) under the instrument panel and connect the antenna (3) and the power lead (2) to the 2-way RCDLR (1).

  16. Object Number: 2064731 Size: SH
  17. Secure the antenna cable to the instrument panel with two tie wraps (1).

  18. Object Number: 2064734 Size: SH
  19. Route the antenna cable in front of the instrument panel (3) to the plenum (1) and secure along the plenum with four adhesive wire wraps (2).
  20. Reinstall the instrument panel upper trim panel with windshield defroster nozzle grille, taking care not to pinch the length of cable at the antenna end. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel with Windshield Defroster Nozzle Grille Replacement.
  21. Place the right windshield side garnish molding on the top of the instrument panel.

  22. Object Number: 2064735 Size: MH

Important: The antenna cable must be secured at the forward edge of the molding (not routed directly behind the antenna) for the best performance of the system.

  23. Wrap the antenna cable around the forward edge of the molding and taking out the slack, secure the cable to the back surface of the molding at the forward edge with two adhesive wire-wraps (1).
  24. Important: Excess antenna cable length must be looped in a "Figure 8" no less than 100 mm (4 in) in length for the best performance of the system.

  25. Loop the excess antenna cable length into a "figure 8" at least 100 mm (4 in) long and tie wrap to the front upper speaker wiring lead (2) with two tie wraps (3).
  26. Reassemble. Refer to Windshield Side Garnish Molding Replacement.

  35. Add the transmitters to the customer key rings.
  36. Place the 2-Way Advanced Remote Start owner manual in the instrument panel compartment.
  37. Keep the vehicle dry. Allow 6-8 hours, at 15°C (60°F), for the antenna adhesive to cure after installation.
