Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.

  2. Object Number: 2173186  Size: SH
  3. Rotate the positive battery cable (1) to the upright position.
  4. Disconnect the positive battery cable (2).
  5. Remove the underhood bussed electrical center (UBEC) cover. Position the lower cover to the side.

  6. Object Number: 662502  Size: SH

    Important: The bolt is integral to the battery cable and is not removable.

  7. Remove the positive battery cable bolt at the UBEC.

  9. Unsnap the junction block cover.
  10. Remove the positive battery cable (1) from the junction block.

  11. Object Number: 662508  Size: SH
  12. Raise and suitably support the vehicle with safety stands. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  13. Remove the engine protection shield. Refer to Engine Protection Shield Replacement.
  14. Remove the positive battery cable channel bolt.
  15. Slide the channel pin out of the oil pan tab.
  16. Remove the positive battery cable from the channel.

  18. Remove the positive cable nut (1).
  19. Remove the positive cable from the starter.
  20. Remove the positive cable clip from the clip on the oil pan.
  21. Remove the positive cable from the clip on the oil pan.
  22. Remove the positive battery cable.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 759622  Size: SH
  1. Install the positive battery cable.
  2. Install the positive cable to the clip on the oil pan.
  3. Install the positive cable to the starter.
  4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Install the positive cable nut (1).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  7. Install the positive battery cable to the channel.
  8. Slide the channel pin into the oil pan tab.
  9. Install the positive battery cable channel bolt.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  11. Install the engine protection shield. Refer to Engine Protection Shield Replacement.
  12. Lower the vehicle.

  13. Object Number: 662521  Size: SH
  14. Install the positive battery cable (1) into the junction block.
  15. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  16. Snap the junction block cover closed.

  17. Object Number: 662502  Size: SH
  18. Tighten the positive cable bolt at the UBEC.
  19. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  20. Position the UBEC lower cover.
  21. Install the UBEC cover.

  22. Object Number: 2173186  Size: SH
  23. Connect the positive battery cable (2).
  24. Tighten
    Tighten the nut (3) to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  25. Close the positive battery cable cover (1).
  26. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
