This bulletin is being revised to inform Technicians that parts will be requested for engineering analysis through the Warranty Parts Center process. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 08-08-111-002 (Section 08 - Body and Accessories).
Condition
Some customers may comment on a rattle noise from the windshield pillar side reveal moldings.
Cause
GM Engineering is attempting to determine the cause of the windshield pillar side reveal molding rattle / noise. As a result, Engineering is asking that the reveal molding be replaced and returned for analysis.
Installation Procedure for New Reveal Molding:
Important: The vehicle needs to be above 20°C (68°F) at the time of application of the tape. The vehicle must be kept dry and maintained at 20°C (68°F) for a minimum of 4 hours after installation of the tape.
- Place double-sided tape (recommend using 3M™ double-sided tape, P/N 063-82 and adhesive promoter, P/N 12378555 (in Canada, P/N 88901239)) under the entire inboard edge where the molding contacts the windshield.
- Clean the windshield where the tape will make contact.
- Install the reveal molding.
The original reveal molding(s) will need to be returned to engineering for analysis. Parts will be requested back through the Warranty Parts Center process.
