Makes 🢒 HUMMER 🢒 2009 🢒 H2 🢒 Body Repair 🢒 Bolted Exterior Body Panels and Closures 🢒 Midgate Hinge Replacement

Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the midgate hinge covers. Refer to Midgate Hinge Finish Cover Replacement.

    2. Object Number: 1427695 Size: SH
  2. Remove the lower center garnish molding (4). Refer to Endgate Center Molding Replacement.
  3. Disconnect the midgate harness electrical connector.

    4. Object Number: 1486511 Size: SH
  4. Remove the nuts (1) securing the midgate hinge to the body.
  5. With the aid of an assistant, remove the midgate and place the midgate on a clean, protected surface.
  6. Remove the midgate inner panel. Refer to Midgate Inner Panel Replacement.

    7. Object Number: 1412514 Size: SH
  7. Remove the nuts securing the midgate hinge to the structure.
  8. Remove the hinge assembly from the midgate structure.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1412514 Size: SH
  1. Position the hinge assembly to the midgate structure.

    2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  2. Install the nuts.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  3. With the aid of an assistant, position the midgate hinge to the alignment pin (2) on the body.
  4. Install the nuts (1).

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  5. Raise and latch the midgate structure.
  6. Connect the electrical connector and secure the grommet.

  7. Install the lower center garnish molding (4). Refer to Endgate Center Molding Replacement.
  8. Install the hinge covers. Refer to Midgate Hinge Finish Cover Replacement.

    9. Object Number: 1427709 Size: SH
  9. Install the midgate inner panel (1). Refer to Midgate Inner Panel Replacement.
