J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
  2. Remove the transmission oil cooler. Refer to Transmission Fluid Auxiliary Cooler Replacement.
  3. Remove the power steering cooler. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Cooler Replacement.
  4. Remove the bolt and nut from the left hood spring.
  5. Remove the bolt and nut from the right hood spring.

  7. Remove the nut (1) from the condenser (2).
  8. Remove the compressor discharge hose assembly (3) from the condenser (2).

  9. Object Number: 798941  Size: SH
  10. Remove the evaporator tube nut (2) from the condenser (1).
  11. Remove the evaporator tube (3) from the condenser (1).
  12. Remove the bolts (2) from the condenser (3).

  13. Object Number: 798933  Size: SH
  14. Remove the condenser (3) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 798933  Size: SH
  1. Add the proper amount of PAG oil to the condenser. Refer to Refrigerant System Capacities.
  2. Install the condenser (3) to the vehicle.
  3. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  4. Install the bolts (2) to the condenser (3).
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  6. Install the new sealing washers. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement.

  7. Object Number: 798941  Size: SH
  8. Install the evaporator tube (3) to the condenser (1).
  9. Install the evaporator tube nut (2) to the condenser (1).
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  11. Install the compressor discharge hose (3) to the condenser (2).
  12. Install the compressor discharge hose nut (1) to the condenser (2).
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  14. Install the transmission oil cooler. Refer to Transmission Fluid Auxiliary Cooler Replacement.
  15. Install the power steering cooler. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Cooler Replacement.
  16. Install the bolt and nut from the right hood spring.
  17. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  18. Install the bolt and nut from the left hood spring.
  19. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  20. Evacuate and recharge the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
  21. Leak test the fittings of the component using the J 39400-A .
