Makes 🢒 HUMMER 🢒 2009 🢒 H2 🢒 Preface 🢒 Dangers, Warnings, and Cautions 🢒 Front Side Door Outside Handle Replacement

Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement.
  2. Remove the water deflector. Refer to Front Side Door Water Deflector Replacement.
  3. Remove the window. Refer to Front Side Door Window Replacement.

    4. Object Number: 838657 Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the outside door handle rod (1) by releasing the retaining clip (2).

    5. Object Number: 838673 Size: SH
  5. Disconnect the lock cylinder rod (1) by releasing the retainer clip.
  6. Apply a piece of masking tape across the door handle, on the outside of the door, to secure the handle while removing the fasteners.

    7. Object Number: 838664 Size: SH
  7. Remove the 3 nuts (1) retaining the door handle.
  8. Remove the door handle.

Installation Procedure
  1. Position the door handle in place on the door.

    2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 838664 Size: SH
  2. Install the 3 nuts (1) that retain the door handle to the door.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  3. Connect the outside door handle rod (1) by securing the retention clip (2).

    4. Object Number: 838673 Size: SH
  4. Connect the lock cylinder rod by securing the retainer clip (1).
  5. Install the window. Refer to Front Side Door Window Replacement.
  6. Install the water deflector. Refer to Front Side Door Water Deflector Replacement.
  7. Install the door trim panel. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement.
  8. Operate the door handle to check for proper operation.
