Condition

Some customers may comment that the SES light is on.

Diagnosis with a scan tool may reveal a P0442 and/or a P0455 EVAP Leak DTC.

Cause

The seal between the filler housing and the fuel filler tube may be restricting the fuel cap from sealing correctly.

DON'T DO THIS

Inspect the seal between the fuel filler tube and the fuel filler housing FIRST.

DO NOT Replace the Fuel Cap

  1. Remove the fuel cap.

  2. Object Number: 1561525  Size: SF
  3. Inspect the seal located in the filler housing (2). The seal should be flush with the filler and evenly spaced around the filler tube.
  4. • If the seal IS properly installed and P0442 and/or P0455 is present, refer to:
       - DTC P0442 -- SI Document ID# 1471797
       - DTC P0455 -- SI Document ID# 1471833
    • If the seal IS NOT correctly positioned, continue with the next step.
  5. Reposition the fuel filler housing seal using an appropriate flat bladed tool.
  6. Clear the DTC(s) with a scan tool.
