The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Customers may report the OnStar system is inoperative and/or the Demo message can not be heard on a Blue Button and/or Emergency key press. Furthermore, the OHFC (OnStar Hands Free Calling) button will not respond with "OnStar Ready" when pressed. Engineering has identified a possible concern with connector C2 of the OnStar VCIM (Vehicle Communication Interface Module) on vehicles built prior to November 10, 2005.
Recommendation/Instructions:
Circuit 2061 (Remote Playback Device Left Audio Signal) and Circuit 2062 (Remote Playback Device Audio Common Signal) maybe located in the wrong cavity of connector C2 @ the OnStar VCIM. Reference eSI Document number 1573971 for correct pin locations.
