Models:2006 Hummer H3

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

A number of BCMs have been returned to the Warranty Parts Center (WPC), with no trouble found. Engineering would like to root cause and diagnosis any concerns with the BCM prior to replacement.

Recommendation/Instructions:

To assist engineering with root causing concerns with the BCM, please contact Technical Assistance prior to replacing the BCM for any reason. Technical Assistance will create a TAC case and document the following questions.

  1. What is the concern with the vehicle?
  2. Is this the same concern the customer came in for?
  3. Can the concern be duplicated?
  4. Has the BCM been replaced on this vehicle in the past? If yes why? and what part number?
  5. Have any parts recently been replaced?
  6. When does the concern happen? All the time Hot/Cold Driving/Idle
  7. What diagnostics have already been done?
  8. Is there any evidence of water in the BCM?

Note: This is not a parts restriction. Technical Assistance may ask the technician to perform additional test prior to replacing any parts.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
