J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers

Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the coolant from the radiator. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  2. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  4. Remove the oil pan skid plate. Refer to Oil Pan Skid Plate Replacement .
  5. Remove the engine shield. Refer to Engine Shield Replacement .

  7. Remove the transmission cooler lines from the radiator. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Quick-Connect Fitting Disconnection and Connection for the 4L60-E/4L65-E transmission, if equipped.
  8. Using J 38185 reposition the radiator outlet hose clamp from the radiator.

  10. Remove the radiator outlet hose from the radiator.
  11. Lower the vehicle.
  12. Remove the cooling fan. Refer to Fan Replacement .

  14. Using J 38185 reposition the radiator inlet hose clamp.
  15. Remove the radiator inlet hose from the radiator.
  16. Remove the radiator vent inlet hose from the radiator.

  17. Object Number: 1566566  Size: SH

    Important: Push retainers back to release the fan shroud from the radiator.

  18. Remove the fan shroud from the radiator.
  19. Remove the discharge hose. Refer to Discharge Hose Replacement .
  20. Remove the evaporator tube. Refer to Evaporator Tube Replacement .

  22. Remove the radiator retaining bolts.

  23. Object Number: 1566576  Size: SH
  24. Remove the radiator support bracket retaining bolt.
  25. Remove the radiator support bracket.

  26. Object Number: 1566564  Size: SH
  27. Reposition the condenser from the radiator.
  28. Remove the radiator from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1566564  Size: SH
  1. Install the radiator assembly to the vehicle.
  2. Reposition the condenser to the radiator.
  3. Install the cooling fan. Refer to Fan Replacement .

  4. Object Number: 1566572  Size: SH
  5. Install the radiator inlet hose to the radiator.
  6. Using J 38185 reposition the radiator inlet hose clamp.

  7. Object Number: 1566576  Size: SH
  8. Install the radiator support bracket.
  9. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  10. Install the radiator support bracket retaining bolt.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  12. Install the radiator retaining bolts.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

  14. Install the discharge hose. Refer to Discharge Hose Replacement .
  15. Remove the evaporator tube. Refer to Evaporator Tube Replacement .

  17. Install the fan shroud to the radiator.
  18. Raise the vehicle.

  20. Install the radiator outlet hose to the radiator.
  21. Using J 38185 reposition the radiator outlet hose clamp to the radiator.

  22. Object Number: 1566575  Size: SH
  23. Connect the transmission cooler lines to the radiator. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Quick-Connect Fitting Disconnection and Connection for the 4L60-E/4L65-E transmission, if equipped.
  24. Install the oil pan skid plate. Refer to Oil Pan Skid Plate Replacement
  25. Install the engine shield. Refer to Engine Shield Replacement
  26. Lower the vehicle.
  27. Install the radiator vent inlet hose to the radiator.
  28. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  29. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
