Chrome Outside Rearview Mirrors Moves In Wrong Direction - keywords accessory accessories door down inoperative rear reverse switch up

This PI was superceded to advise the dealer of a first and second design mirror. Please discard PIT4425,

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Some technicians may find that after installing the chrome accessory outside mirrors, the mirrors will move in the direction opposite to the input of the Up / Down switch (i.e. commanding the mirror up will actually move the mirror down). There was an assembly change made beginning with VIN 78193057 (build date 01/24/07) to the position of the outside mirror control switch which created a need to change to the factory-installed mirror wiring harness. If the incorrect mirror was installed this condition may occur.

Verify that the correct part number mirror is being used for this vehicle.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
