Fan Replacement LLR

Tools Required

    • J 41240 Fan Clutch Remover and Installer
    • J 46406 Fan Clutch Remover and Installer

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the fan shroud. Refer to Engine Coolant Fan Shroud Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 1698804  Size: SH
  3. Using J 41240 and J 46406 loosen the fan clutch.

  4. Object Number: 1207759  Size: SH
  5. Remove the fan hub nut in a counterclockwise rotation.
  6. Remove the cooling fan (2) from the fan clutch. Refer to Fan Clutch Replacement .

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the cooling fan to the fan clutch. Refer to Fan Clutch Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 1698804  Size: SH

    Caution: Do not use or attempt to repair a damaged cooling fan assembly. Replace damaged fans with new assemblies. An unbalanced cooling fan could fly apart causing personal injury and property damage.

  3. Install the J 46406 and the J 41240 to the fan clutch.
  4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Install the fan hub nut to the pulley and hand tighten in a clockwise rotation.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the fan clutch nut clockwise to 56 N·m (41 lb ft).

  7. Install the fan shroud. Refer to Engine Coolant Fan Shroud Replacement .

    • EN-48543 Fan Clutch Holding Tool
    • J 41240 Fan Clutch Remover and Installer

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Resonator Outlet Duct Replacement.
  2. Remove the fan shroud. Refer to Engine Coolant Fan Shroud Replacement.

  3. Object Number: 1698804  Size: SH
  4. Using J 41240 and EN-48543 loosen the fan clutch.

  5. Object Number: 2001266  Size: SH

    Important: If additional clearance is needed between tools substitute 10/32 thread 1/2 inch set screws on EN-48543 for the socket head cap screws as supplied, use thread lock if needed.

  6. Remove the fan hub nut in a counterclockwise rotation (viewing fan from front of vehicle).
  7. Remove the cooling fan (1) from the fan clutch. Refer to Fan Clutch Replacement.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the cooling fan to the fan clutch. Refer to Fan Clutch Replacement.

  2. Object Number: 1698804  Size: SH

  3. Install the EN-48543 and the J 41240 to the fan clutch.

    Tighten the fan clutch nut clockwise to 56 N·m (41 lb ft).

  7. Install the fan shroud. Refer to Engine Coolant Fan Shroud Replacement.
  8. Install the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Resonator Outlet Duct Replacement.
