DTC Descriptor

DTC C0276: Transmission Control Module (TCM) Traction Control Not Allowed

Circuit/System Description

The electronic brake control module (EBCM) receives messages from other modules over serial data which are needed to perform antilock brake system (ABS), vehicle stability enhancement system (VSES), or traction control system (TCS) functions.

Conditions for Running the DTC

Ignition ON.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

    • The transfer case selected range has been reported as invalid by the transfercase control module (TCCM).
    • The rear differential status has been reported as locked by the TCCM when the vehicle speed is greater than 50 km/h (31 mph) for 10 seconds.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

    • The EBCM disables the TCS and Vehicle Stability Enhancement System (VSES) for the duration of the ignition cycle.
    • A DIC message and/or a warning indicator may be displayed.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • The condition for the DTC is no longer present.
    • The EBCM clears the history DTC when a current DTC is not detected in 100 consecutive drive cycles.

Circuit/System Verification

  1. With a Tech 2, view the Invalid Signal Data Display.
  2. If no invalid signal are present, view Signal Fault Data in the Enhanced DTC Data.
  3. Refer to appropriate module for diagnosing the invalid message data.
  4. Do not replace the EBCM due to this DTC fault.
