The ABS pump motor recharges the brake fluid accumulator during antilock braking and normal power brake assist. The ABS pump motor is part of the hydraulic brake booster assembly.
Ignition voltage is greater than 9.5 volts.
• | The ABS pump runs continuously. |
• | The EBCM detects an open in the pump motor circuit. |
• | The EBCM disables the ABS / traction control system (TCS) / vehicle stability enhancement system (VSES) for the duration of the ignition cycle. |
• | A DIC message and/or a warning indicator may be displayed. |
• | The condition for setting the DTC is no longer present. |
• | The EBCM clears the history DTC when a current DTC is not detected in 100 consecutive drive cycles. |
• | Operate the vehicle at speeds greater than 15 km/h (10 mph) to complete the self test and the EBCM will turn off the ABS indicator. |

⇒ | If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance. |
• | Terminal 2 X1 |
• | Terminal 2 X2 |
⇒ | If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal and the B+ circuit fuse is open, replace the EBCM/BPMV. |
Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure.
