TRACTION FAILED Or SERVICE STAB SYS Message On DTC C0136 - keywords adjustment bind brake code control DTC lamp light pedal stabilitrak stop switch TCS VSES

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Service Stability or a Traction Failed message on with DTC C0136. This concern may be intermittent and difficult to diagnosis. This DTC will set if the master cylinder pressure sensor sees an increase of brake pressure with no brake switch input.

Using a Tech 2, monitor the "Master Cylinder Pressure Sensor" and "Brake Switch Status" under Brakes and Data Display. Slowly apply the brake pedal and monitor the data. The pressure should increase at the same time the brake switch input is recognized by the Tech 2. If the pressure increases prior to the brake switch input is recognized on the Tech 2, check the brake switch for proper adjustment. If the brake switch is properly adjusted, then replace the brake switch and evaluate. This would be the brake switch that is inside the vehicle attached to the brake pedal.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
