No Communication With EBTCM DTC U1040 - keywords ABS BCM brake connector EBCM intermittent lamp light stabilitrak TCS VSES

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

There is no communications with the EBTCM and a DTC U1040 is set as current or history. This can be caused by a poor connection at the BCM connector.

1. Perform a voltage drop test on the power and grounds to the EBTCM.
2. Check the Class 2 data line for any opens or a short to power or ground.
3. If this is a history code wiggle the BCM Connector and see if the concern can be duplicated.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
