Subject: | 07348 -- HUMMER H3G EBCM Programming |
Models: | H3G MY08 |
H3G MY07 |
When driving at approximately 60Km/h and swaying the vehicle abruptly from side to side as if avoiding an obstacle, the stability control light illuminates and warns of a traction failure and logs DTC C-0550. When this occurs that stability control ramps down. This is re-activated at the next ignition cycle. No loss of normal braking is experienced.
Reprogramming of the Electronic Brake Control Module. (EBCM).
Involved are certain 2007-08 model year HUMMER H3G built within these VIN breakpoints:
Year | Division | Model | From | Through |
---|---|---|---|---|
2007 | HUMMER | H3G | ADMDN13E07440221 | ADMDN13EX74415381 |
2008 | HUMMER | H3G | ADMDN13E084404990 | ADMDN13EX84426561 |
Important: Dealers/retailers are to confirm vehicle eligibility prior to beginning repairs by using the system(s) below. Not all vehicles within the above breakpoints may be involved.
For dealers/retailers with involved vehicles, a listing with involved vehicles containing the complete vehicle identification number, customer name, and address information has been prepared and will be provided through the applicable system listed below. Dealers/retailers will not have a report available if they have no involved vehicles currently assigned.
-- Export dealers - sent directly to dealers
The listing may contain customer names and addresses obtained from Motor Vehicle Registration Records. The use of such motor vehicle registration data for any purpose other than follow-up necessary to complete this program is a violation of law in several states/provinces/countries. Accordingly, you are urged to limit the use of this report to the follow-up necessary to complete this program.
Do not attempt to order the calibration number from GMSPO. The calibration numbers required for this service procedure are programmed into control modules via a Techline Tech 2® scan tool and TIS 2 WEB website with the following calibration updates:
2007/2008 HUMMER H3G: Use data version 12.5 for 2007 or later, available on TIS 2 Web 12/17/07; Calibration File Name=24300635
If you cannot access the calibration, call the Techline Customer Support Center and it will be provided.
Notice: Before reprogramming, please check the battery condition to prevent a reprogramming error of any of the modules due to battery discharge. Battery voltage must be between 12 and 16 volts during reprogramming. If the vehicle battery is not fully charged, use jumper cables from an additional battery. Be sure to turn off or disable any system that may put a load on the battery, such as automatic headlamps, daytime running lights, interior lights, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system, radio, engine cooling fan, etc. A programming failure or control module damage may occur if battery voltage guidelines are not observed.
The ignition switch must be in the proper position. The Service Programming System (SPS) application prompts you to turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. DO NOT change the position of the ignition switch during the programming procedure, unless instructed to do so.
Make certain all tool connections are secure, including the following components and circuits:
• | The RS-232 communication cable port |
• | The connection at the data link connector (DLC) |
• | The voltage supply circuits |
DO NOT disturb the tool harnesses while programming. If an interruption occurs during the programming procedure, programming failure or control module damage may occur.
DO NOT turn OFF the ignition if the programming procedure is interrupted or unsuccessful. Ensure that all control module and DLC connections are secure and the TIS terminal operating software is up to date.
Verify that there is a battery charge of 12 to 16 volts. The battery must be able to maintain a charge during programming. Use an additional jump battery if necessary. Only use approved Midtronics charger or Jumper Packs, etc. to maintain proper battery voltage during programming.
Step 1 - Log onto TIS2WEB and start the SPS program.
Step 2 - The program will look for automatic updates.
Step 3 - Select Tech2 Legacy pass thru.
Step 4 - Follow the instructions on the screen.
Step 5 - Select Hummer.
Step 6 - Select the correct year and car line.
Step 7 - Ensure TIS2WEB read the correct VIN from the vehicle.
Step 8 - Select the controller to be programmed.
Step 9 - Calibration selection screen, click on next.
Step 10 - Tis will select the new calibration 24300635, click on new.
Step 11 - Tis will start to download the software to the vehicle.
Step 12 - On completion of the download, click on clear DTCs.
Step 13 - Click on new or cancel to exit SPS.
The General Motors Courtesy Transportation program is intended to minimize customer inconvenience when a vehicle requires a repair that is covered by the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. The availability of courtesy transportation to customers whose vehicles are within the warranty coverage period and involved in a product program is very important in maintaining customer satisfaction. Dealers are to ensure that these customers understand that shuttle service or some other form of courtesy transportation is available and will be provided at no charge. GM Dealers should refer to the General Motors Service Policies and Procedures Manual for Courtesy Transportation guidelines.
