Subject:The TRLR B+ or REAR TRN/HAZRD Fuse Is Open or Crank No Start

Models:2006-2008 Hummer H3 with UY7

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

A customer may comment on either of the following:

  1. Repeat open TRLR B+ fuse 84 and/or open REAR TRN/HAZRD fuse 20.
  2. Cranks but does not start due to an inoperative fuel pump.

Either of these concerns may be caused by a wire harness chaffing on the body near the C420 connector at the left rear of the body. This will only happen on a vehicle with the trailer wiring RPO UY7.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Inspect the wire harness near the C420 connector for chaffing on the body. The Easiest way to see this concern is to open the endgate and look between the body and bumper on the left side. If any chaffed wires are found, repair them as necessary and reroute the wires to prevent any further chaffing.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
