Power Steering Pump Replacement LH8
Removal Procedure
- Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to
Drive Belt Replacement - Accessory.
- Place drain pans under the vehicle as needed.
- Remove as much power steering fluid from the power steering fluid reservoir as possible.
- Disconnect the power steering gear inlet and outlet hose. Refer to
Power Steering Gear Inlet and Outlet Hose Replacement.
- Remove the engine wiring harness bracket bolt.
- Reposition the engine wiring harness bracket out of the way.
- Remove the generator bracket bolts (1) and generator bracket (2) with the power steering pump and power steering fluid reservoir assembly attached.
- Remove the power steering pump pulley (1). Refer to
Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement.
- Remove the power steering pump bolts (2).
- Remove the power steering pump and power steering pump fluid reservoir assembly (3) from the generator bracket.
- Separate the power steering pump and the power steering fluid reservoir. Refer to
Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement.
Installation Procedure
- Connect the power steering pump and the power steering fluid reservoir. Refer to
Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement.
- Install the power steering pump and power steering pump fluid reservoir assembly (3) to the generator bracket.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Install the power steering pump bolts (2).
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the power steering pump pulley (1). Refer to
Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement.
- Install the generator bracket (2) and generator bracket bolts (1) to the vehicle with the power steering pump and power steering fluid reservoir assembly attached.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
- Position the engine wiring harness bracket.
- Install the engine wiring harness bracket bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).
- Connect the power steering gear inlet and outlet hose. Refer to
Power Steering Gear Inlet and Outlet Hose Replacement.
- Clean any excess power steering fluid from the vehicle and remove the drain pans.
- Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to
Drive Belt Replacement - Accessory.
Power Steering Pump Replacement LLR
Removal Procedure
- Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to
Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement.
- Remove the power steering pump pulley. Refer to
Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement.
- Disconnect the wiring harness from the power steering fluid reservoir.
- Remove as much power steering fluid from the power steering fluid reservoir as possible.
- Place drain pans under the vehicle as needed.
- Disconnect the power steering gear inlet and outlet hose from the power steering pump and power steering fluid reservoir assembly.
- Remove the power steering pump bolts.
- Remove the power steering pump and power steering fluid reservoir assembly from the vehicle.
- Transfer any parts as needed.
Installation Procedure
- Install the power steering pump and power steering fluid reservoir assembly to the vehicle.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Install the power steering pump bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Connect the power steering gear inlet and outlet hose to the power steering pump and power steering fluid reservoir assembly.
Tighten
Tighten the fitting to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Clean any excess power steering fluid from the vehicle and remove the drain pans.
- Connect the oil pressure sensor wiring harness to the power steering fluid reservoir.
- Install the power steering pump pulley. Refer to
Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement.
- Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to
Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement.
- Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to
Power Steering System Bleeding.
