1. If equipped with a 3.7L engine, remove the catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement.
2. If equipped with a 5.3L engine, remove the catalytic converters. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement - Left Side and/or Catalytic Converter Replacement - Right Side.
3. Remove the catalytic converter heat shield nuts (2) and shield (1).



4. If equipped with a 5.3L engine, remove the catalytic converter heat shield nuts (2) and shield (1).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.




1. If equipped with a 5.3L engine, position the catalytic converter heat shield (1) to the underbody and install the nuts (2).

Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).




2. Position the catalytic converter heat shield (1) to the underbody and install the nuts (2).

Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

3. If equipped with a 5.3L engine, install the catalytic converters. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement - Left Side and/or Catalytic Converter Replacement - Right Side.
4. If equipped with a 3.7L engine, install the catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement.
