Preliminary Procedures

1. Disable the supplemental inflatable restraint system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.
2. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
3. Remove the lower steering column shroud. Refer to Steering Column Shroud Replacement.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Tighten
0.74 N·m (7 lb in)

Procedure

Turn the ignition lock cylinder to the run position prior to removing the ignition and start switch.
