For 1990-2009 cars only
  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. Ensure that the vehicle is level.
  3. Remove the engine protection shield (EPS), if equipped. Refer to Engine Shield Replacement.
  4. Remove the drain plug.
  5. Drain axle fluid into a suitable container.
  6. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  7. Install the drain plug.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the drain plug to 32 N·m (24 lb ft).

  9. Remove the fill plug.
  10. Fill the drive axle with the proper fluid. Refer to Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations.
  11. Inspect the fluid level. Refer to Front Axle Lubricant Level Inspection.
  12. Install the fill plug.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the fill plug to 32 N·m (24 lb ft).

  14. Install the EPS, if equipped. Refer to Engine Shield Replacement.
  15. Lower the vehicle.
