Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.
Caution: The sensing and the diagnosis module (SDM) can maintain
sufficient voltage to deploy the airbags and pretensioners for up to 1 minute after
the ignition has been turned OFF and the fuse has been removed. If the airbags and
pretensioners are not disconnected, do not begin service until one minute has been
passed after disconnecting power to the SDM. Failure to do so may cause personal injury.
- Disable the supplemental inflatable restraints (SIR). Refer to
SIR Disabling and Enabling
.
- Remove the headliner. Refer to
Headlining Trim Panel Replacement
.
- Remove the air bag module mounting bolts near the front and rear doors.
- Disconnect the roof rail air bag yellow electrical connector.
- Remove the air bag module mounting bolts near the quarter window.
- Remove the roof rail air bag module.
Installation Procedure
- Install the roof rail air bag module.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the air bag module mounting bolts near the quarter window.
Tighten
Tighten the passenger air bag module mounting bolts to 10 N·m (84 lb in).
- Connect the roof rail air bag yellow electrical connector.

- Install the air bag module mounting bolts near the front and rear doors.
Tighten
Tighten the passenger air bag module mounting bolts to 10 N·m (84 lb in).
- Install the headliner. Refer to
Headlining Trim Panel Replacement

- Enable the SIR. Refer to
SIR Disabling and Enabling
