    • KM-470-B Angular Torque Gage

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1801439  Size: SH
  1. Remove the engine assembly. Refer to Engine Replacement.
  2. Remove the intake manifold assembly. Refer to Lower Intake Manifold Replacement.
  3. Remove the exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement.
  4. Remove engine harness ground terminal attaching bolts from the cylinder head.
  5. Remove the bank 1 side secondary timing chain. Refer to Secondary Camshaft Drive Chain Replacement - Right Side.
  6. Remove the camshaft position actuators.
  7. Remove the power steering fluid supply line retaining bolt from the cylinder head.
  8. Remove the cylinder head attaching bolt (1), eight places.
  9. Important:  There is no bolt fitted to the hole in the bank of the bank 1 cylinder head.

  10. Remove the cylinder head.

  12. Remove and discard the cylinder head gasket  (1).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1796477  Size: SH
  1. Installation should follow the removal procedure in the reverse order.
  2. Using EN 46111  (1), align the crankshaft sprocket timing mark  (2) with the indexing mark  (3) on the oil pump housing.

  3. Object Number: 1801442  Size: SH
  4. Ensure the deck face is clean and the cylinder head locating pins are securely mounted in the cylinder block deck face.
  5. Install a new cylinder head gasket  (1) using the deck face locating pins for retention.

  6. Object Number: 1801439  Size: SH
  7. Align the cylinder head (2) with the locating pins.
  8. Place the cylinder head in position on the deck face.
  9. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1801514  Size: SH

    Important: Do not allow oil on the cylinder head bolt bosses.

    Important: Do not reuse the old cylinder head bolts (1 to 8 inclusive).

  10. Install the new cylinder head bolt (1) tighten in the sequence shown.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the cylinder head bolt to 45 N·m (33 lb ft) and turn the bolt another 120 degrees KM-470-B .

  12. Install any other parts that were previously removed.
