- Release the park brake.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle

- Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
.
- Remove the rear brake rotor. Refer to
Rear Brake Rotor Replacement
.
- Disconnect the park brake cable from the backing plate groove.
- Inspect and replace any parts of doubtful strength or quality because of discoloration from heat or stress.
- Adjust the park brake shoe assembly by turning the adjuster nut.
- Install the park brake cable to the backing plate groove.
- Install the rear brake rotor. Refer to
Rear Brake Rotor Replacement
.
- Install the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
.
- In the vehicle cabin, pull on the park brake handle and stop after hearing two clicks.
- Turn the rear wheel by hand until the wheel begins to drag.
- Release the park brake.
- Turn the rear wheel by hand to check drag.
- Readjust the cable, if necessary.
- Repeat the process for the other rear wheel.
- Lower the vehicle.
