For 1990-2009 cars only
  1. Release the park brake.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  3. Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  4. Remove the rear brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement .
  5. Disconnect the park brake cable from the backing plate groove.
  6. Inspect and replace any parts of doubtful strength or quality because of discoloration from heat or stress.

  8. Adjust the park brake shoe assembly by turning the adjuster nut.
  9. Install the park brake cable to the backing plate groove.
  10. Install the rear brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement .
  11. Install the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  12. In the vehicle cabin, pull on the park brake handle and stop after hearing two clicks.
  13. Turn the rear wheel by hand until the wheel begins to drag.
  14. Release the park brake.
  15. Turn the rear wheel by hand to check drag.
  16. Readjust the cable, if necessary.
  17. Repeat the process for the other rear wheel.
  18. Lower the vehicle.
