Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Outlet Hose Replacement 2.4L Engine

Removal Procedure

    Important: The left-hand drive model is shown. The right-hand drive model is similar.

  1. Siphon the power steering fluid from the fluid reservoir.
  2. Remove the reservoir bolts.
  3. Place a drain pan under the vehicle in order to catch the power steering fluid. Use a rag in order to absorb any spilled fluid.
  4. Notice: Refer to Power Steering Hose Disconnected Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Loosen the hose clamp and remove the reservoir outlet hose from the reservoir.

  6. Object Number: 1768629  Size: SH
  7. Loosen the hose clamp and remove the reservoir outlet hose from the power steering pump inlet.

  8. Object Number: 1768630  Size: SH
  9. Remove the bolts from the brackets.
  10. Remove the reservoir outlet hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Installing Hoses without Twists or Bends Notice in the Preface section.

  1. Route the reservoir outlet hose from the reservoir to the pump.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1768630  Size: SH
  3. Install the bolts to the brackets.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bracket bolts to 10N·m (88.5 lb in).

  5. Install the reservoir outlet hose and the hose clamp to the power steering pump inlet.

  6. Object Number: 1768627  Size: SH
  7. Install the reservoir outlet hose and the hose clamp to the reservoir.
  8. Install the bolts to the reservoir.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

    Notice: Refer to Using Proper Power Steering Fluid Notice in the Preface section.

  10. Fill the reservoir with power steering fluid. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid .
  11. Notice: Refer to Air in the Power Steering System Notice in the Preface section.

  12. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
  13. Inspect for leaks. If there are leaks, correct the cause of the leaks. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Leaks .

Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Outlet Hose Replacement 2.0L Engine

Removal Procedure

    Important: The left-hand drive model is shown. The right-hand drive model is similar.

  1. Siphon the power steering fluid from the fluid reservoir.
  2. Remove the engine beauty cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement .
  3. Place a drain pan under the vehicle in order to catch the power steering fluid. Use a rag in order to absorb any spilled fluid.

  4. Object Number: 1768627  Size: SH
  5. Remove the bolts from the reservoir.
  6. Notice: Refer to Power Steering Hose Disconnected Notice in the Preface section.

  7. Loosen the hose clamp and remove the reservoir outlet hose from the reservoir.

  8. Object Number: 1825803  Size: SH
  9. Loosen the hose clamp and remove the reservoir outlet hose (1) from the power steering pump inlet (4).
  10. Remove the underhood auxiliary fuse block.

  11. Object Number: 1768630  Size: SH
  12. Remove the bolts from the reservoir outlet pipe/hose brackets.
  13. Remove the reservoir outlet pipe/hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Installing Hoses without Twists or Bends Notice in the Preface section.

  1. Route the reservoir outlet pipe/hose from the reservoir to the pump.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1768630  Size: SH
  3. Install the bolts to the reservoir outlet pipe/hose brackets.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bracket bolts to 10N·m (88.5 lb in).

  5. Install the underhood auxiliary fuse block.

  7. Install the reservoir outlet hose (1) and the hose clamp to the power steering pump inlet (4).

  8. Object Number: 1768627  Size: SH
  9. Install the reservoir outlet hose and the hose clamp to the reservoir.
  10. Install the bolts to the reservoir.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the reservoir bolts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  12. Install the engine beauty cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement .
  13. Notice: Refer to Using Proper Power Steering Fluid Notice in the Preface section.

  14. Fill the reservoir with power steering fluid. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid .
  15. Notice: Refer to Air in the Power Steering System Notice in the Preface section.

  16. Inspect for leaks. If there are leaks, correct the cause of the leaks. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Leaks .
  17. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .

Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Outlet Hose Replacement 3.2L Engine

Removal Procedure

    Important: The left-hand drive model is shown. The right-hand drive model is similar.

  1. Siphon the power steering fluid from the fluid reservoir.
  2. Place a drain pan under the vehicle in order to catch the power steering fluid. Use a rag in order to absorb any spilled fluid.

  3. Object Number: 1768627  Size: SH
  4. Remove the bolts from the reservoir.
  5. Notice: Refer to Power Steering Hose Disconnected Notice in the Preface section.

  6. Loosen the hose clamp and remove the reservoir outlet hose from the reservoir.
  7. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  8. Remove the front tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .

  9. Object Number: 1825824  Size: SH
  10. Loosen the hose clamp and remove the reservoir outlet hose (1) from the power steering pump inlet (2).

  11. Object Number: 1825827  Size: SH
  12. Remove the nuts (3) and the bolts (1) from the reservoir outlet pipe/hose brackets (2, 4).
  13. Remove the reservoir outlet pipe/hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Route the reservoir outlet pipe/hose from the reservoir to the pump.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the nuts (3) and the bolts (1) to the reservoir outlet pipe/hose brackets (2, 4).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts and the bolts to 10N·m (88.5 lb in).

  5. Install the reservoir outlet hose (1) and the hose clamp to the power steering pump inlet (2).
  6. Install the front tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .

  7. Object Number: 1768627  Size: SH
  8. Install the reservoir outlet hose and the hose clamp to the reservoir.
  9. Install the bolts to the reservoir.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the reservoir bolts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  11. Fill the reservoir with power steering fluid. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid .
  12. Notice: Refer to Air in the Power Steering System Notice in the Preface section.

  14. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
  15. Lower the vehicle.
