Resonator Replacement 2.0L Diesel

Warning: In order to avoid being burned, do not service the exhaust system while it is still hot. Service the system when it is cool.

Caution: Apply pressure only at the end of the liftgate/hood assist rod that you are removing or attaching. Do NOT apply pressure to the middle of the rod because damage or bending will result.

1. Remove the nuts and the gasket from the front muffler pipe-to-DPF.



2. Remove the nuts and the gaskets from the both rear muffler pipe flange.



3. Remove the rubber hangers.
4. Remove the front muffler.

1. Secure the front muffler to the rubber hangers.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.




2. Install the nuts and the gaskets to the both rear muffler pipe flange. If damaged, replace the new gasket and tighten the nuts to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).



3. Install the nuts and gasket to the front muffler pipe-to-DPF and tighten the nuts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft). If damaged, replace the new gasket.

Resonator Replacement 2.4L

1. Remove the nuts and the gasket from the front muffler pipe-to-underbody catalytic converter (UCC).



2. Remove the nuts and the gaskets from the both rear muffler pipe flange.



3. Disconnect the front muffler from the rubber hangers.
4. Remove the front muffler.
5. Check the UCC and the front muffler for holes, damage, open seams or other deterioration which could permit exhaust fumes to seep into the passenger compartment or the trunk.

1. Secure the front muffler to the rubber hangers.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.




2. Install the nuts and the gaskets to the both rear muffler pipe flange and tighten the nuts to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).



3. Install the nuts and gasket to the front muffler pipe-to-UCC and tighten the nuts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

Resonator Replacement 3.2L

1. Remove the nuts and the gasket from the front muffler pipe-to-underbody catalytic converter (UCC).



2. Remove the nuts and the gaskets from the rear muffler pipe flange.



3. Disconnect the front muffler from the rubber hangers.
4. Remove the front muffler.
