Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  3. Remove the rear brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement.

  4. Object Number: 1827444  Size: SH
  5. If equipped with all wheel drive (AWD), remove the wheel drive shaft spindle nut.
  6. If equipped with antilock brakes (ABS), remove the rear wheel speed sensor. Refer to Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement.
  7. Note: Do not damage the wheel drive shaft joint seal.

  8. Support the wheel drive shaft with heavy mechanics wire, or equivalent.
  9. Note: The disc brake backing plate and the park brake assembly are between the wheel bearing/hub assembly and the knuckle.

  10. Support the disc brake backing plate and the park brake assembly.

  12. Remove the wheel bearing/hub mounting bolts.

  13. Object Number: 1827475  Size: SH
  14. Remove the wheel bearing/hub assembly from the knuckle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1768888  Size: SH
  1. Install the wheel bearing/hub assembly to the knuckle.
  2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Install the wheel bearing/hub mounting bolts and tighten to 84 N·m (62 lb ft).

  4. Object Number: 1827444  Size: SH
  5. If equipped with AWD, install the wheel drive shaft spindle nut and tighten to 205 N·m (151 lb ft).
  6. If equipped with ABS, install the rear wheel speed sensor. Refer to Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement.
  7. Install the rear brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement.
  8. Install the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  9. Lower the vehicle.
