Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1764787  Size: SH
  1. Release the park brake.
  2. Remove the console. Refer to Console Replacement.
  3. Measure the thread length from the end of the pull rod to the hex nut.

  5. Remove the park brake adjustment nut from the eye bolt pull rod.

  6. Object Number: 1764797  Size: SH
  7. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  8. Remove the park brake cable ends from the park brake cable equalizer.

  9. Object Number: 1764798  Size: SH
  10. Remove the bolts which secure the park brake lever assembly to the body panel.

  11. Object Number: 1764807  Size: SH

    Note: Replace the park brake warning lamp switch if the BRAKE warning light in the instrument panel cluster did not glow when the park brake was applied with the ignition ON.

  12. Remove the park brake switch from the park brake lever assembly.
  13. Remove the park brake lever.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the park brake warning lamp switch to the park brake lever assembly.
  2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Install the park brake lever assembly to the body panel with bolts and tighten to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).

  4. Object Number: 1764797  Size: SH
  5. Install the park brake cable ends to the park brake cable equalizer.
  6. Lower the vehicle.

  7. Object Number: 1764789  Size: SH
  8. Install the park brake adjustment nut to the eye bolt pull rod. Inspect the park brake adjustment by referring to the original removal adjustment nut measurement taken in the removal procedure. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment.
  9. Install the console. Refer to Console Replacement.
