Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

Go to Step 2

Go to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle

1. Turn OFF the ignition.
2. Disconnect the variable effort steering (VES) actuator.
3. Disconnect the speed sensitive power steering (SSPS) module.
4. Test for an open or poor connection at the SSPS control module. Refer to Testing for Continuity and LINK .
5. Test for an open or poor connection at the VES actuator.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 3

Replace the speed sensitive power steering (SSPS) control module. Refer to Power Steering Control Module Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 4

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?

System OK

Go to Step 5

Replace the power steering gear. Refer to Steering Gear Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 6
