Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1255612 Size: SH
  1. Remove the wheel.
  2. Remove the caulking nut and washer.

    3. Object Number: 1255632 Size: SH
  3. Remove the outer tie rod. Refer to Rack and Pinion Outer Tie Rod End Replacement .
  4. Disconnect the control arm ball joint.
  5. Remove the brake caliper. Refer to Front Brake Caliper Replacement .
  6. Remove the detent screw from the brake disc. Remove the disc.

  7. Remove the splash shield. Refer to Front Brake Shield Replacement .

    8. Object Number: 1255613 Size: SH
  8. Remove the front strut bolts.
  9. Remove the knuckle, hub assembly.

    10. Object Number: 1255653 Size: SH
  10. Remove the hub bolts from the knuckle and separate the hub from the knuckle.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1255654 Size: SH
  1. Install the hub bolts.

    2. Tighten
    Tighten the hub bolts to 95 N·m (70 lb ft).

  2. Install the splash shield and front strut bolts. Refer to Front Brake Shield Replacement .

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the splash shield bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  3. Install the detent screw and disc.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the detent screw to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  4. Install the brake caliper. Refer to Front Brake Caliper Replacement .

    5. Object Number: 1255603 Size: SH
  5. Install the control arm ball joint bolt.

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the control arm ball joint bolt to 110 N·m (81 lb ft).


    Object Number: 1255633 Size: SH
  6. Install the outer tie rod bolt. Refer to Rack and Pinion Outer Tie Rod End Replacement .

    7. Tighten
    Tighten the outer tie rod bolt to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).


    Object Number: 1255615 Size: SH
  7. Install the washer and the caulking nut onto the axle shaft.

    8. Tighten
    Tighten the caulking nut onto the axle shaft to 280 N·m (207 lb ft).

  8. Bleed the air out of the brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding .
