The clutch pressure control (PC) solenoid 2 is part of the control solenoid (w/body and TCM) valve assembly. The control solenoid (w/body and TCM) valve assembly has no seviceable parts. The transmission control module (TCM) supplies 12 volts to the clutch PC solenoid 2 on the high side driver circuit. The TCM controls the PC solenoid 2 through the clutch PC solenoid 2 control circuit. The normally high clutch PC solenoid 2 flows fluid to the 3-5-R clutch when commanded OFF and exhausts fluid when commanded ON. This allows the clutch PC solenoid 2 to regulate the transmission fluid pressure to the 3-5-R clutch.
• | The engine run time is greater than 12 seconds. |
• | The ignition voltage is between 9.0 volts and 19.0 volts. |
• | The clutch PC solenoid 2 is commanded ON. |
• | DTC P0965 has not failed this ignition cycle. |
• | The engine run time is greater than 5 seconds. |
• | The ignition voltage is between 9.0 volts and 19.0 volts. |
• | The clutch PC solenoid 2 is commanded ON. |
• | DTC P0966 has not failed this ignition cycle. |
• | The engine run time is greater than 5 seconds. |
• | The ignition voltage is between 9.0 volts and 19.0 volts. |
• | The clutch PC solenoid 2 is commanded ON. |
• | DTC P0967 has not failed this ignition cycle. |
The TCM detects an internal electrical performance malfunction of the clutch PC solenoid 2 control circuit where the actual 3-5-R clutch pressure does not equal the commanded 3-5-R clutch pressure for 10.5 seconds.
The TCM detects an internal low voltage electrical malfunction of the clutch PC solenoid control circuit for 300 milliseconds.
The TCM detects an internal high voltage electrical malfunction of the clutch PC solenoid control circuit for 300 milliseconds.
• | DTC P0965 is a Type C DTC. |
• | The TCM freezes transmission adaptive functions. |
• | DTCs P0966 and P0967 are Type A DTCs. |
• | The TCM defaults the transmission to a limited shift pattern utilizing 2 forward gears and reverse based on the fault detected. |
• | The TCM commands maximum line pressure. |
• | The TCM freezes transmission adaptive functions. |
• | The TCM forces TCC OFF. |
• | DTC P0965 is a Type C DTC. |
• | DTCs P0966 and P0967 are Type A DTCs. |
DTC P0965 detects an invalid voltage in the 3-5-R clutch variable bleed solenoid (VBS) control circuit.
DTC P0966 detects a continuous short to ground in the 3-5-R clutch VBS control circuit.
DTC P0967 detects a continuous open or short to voltage in the 3-5-R clutch VBS control circuit.
When attempting to set solenoid electrical DTCs, it may be helpful to ensure the TCM is warmed up and the transmission is operated in second gear long enough to ensure a 3°C (5°F) increase in TCM temperature. This will place the TCM under the optimal conditions to test solenoid electrical DTCs.
