Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1860021 Size: SH
  1. Remove the battery and tray. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement.
  2. Remove the air filter housing.
  3. Remove the floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement.
  4. Apply the parking brake.
  5. Place the shift control lever into neutral (N) position.

  6. Remove the shift control cable retaining clip (1) and cable (2) from the shift control lever assembly.

    7. Object Number: 1860002 Size: SH

    Important: The shift control cable must be disconnected from the transmission range switch lever prior to disconnecting it from the control cable bracket. Otherwise damage to the manual shift shaft may result, requiring transaxle disassembly.

  7. Disconnect the shift control cable from the transmission range (TR) switch lever.
  8. Disconnect the shift control cable from the control cable bracket by depressing the control cable retainer clip tabs and pulling up. Discard the clip.

  9. Remove the shift control cable from the dash panel.
  10. Remove the shift control cable from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1860002 Size: SH
  1. Route the shift control cable through the cable bracket.
  2. Secure the cable to the bracket with a new control cable retaining clip.

    3. An audible snap will be heard when properly installed.

  3. With the TR switch lever in neutral (N), install the shift control cable end fitting onto the ball stud of the TR switch lever.

    4. An audible snap will be heard when properly installed.

  4. Secure the shift control cable grommet by pressing the cable into the pass-thru hole in the dash panel.

    5. Object Number: 1860024 Size: SH
  5. Ensure the shift control lever is in the neutral (N) position.
  6. Connect the shift control cable to the shift control lever assembly.

    7. Secure the cable with a new shift control cable retaining clip (1).

  7. Install the shift control cable onto the shift control lever.
  8. Adjust the shift control cable. Refer to Shift Control Cable Adjustment.

  9. Install the front console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement.
  10. Install the air filter housing.
  11. Install the battery and tray. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement.
