Disassembly Procedure

    Caution: Use extreme care when removing the cylinder head to prevent any engine oil , dirt, or coolant from entering the engine. Damage to the engine could result.

  1. Remove the cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Replacement.
  2. Remove the intake cam sprocket and the exhaust cam sprocket.

  3. Object Number: 1376047  Size: SH

    Note: Make sure the engraved position numbers on the camshaft caps are not mixed up. Camshaft caps should follow the numeric order when installing, intake camshaft caps 1-3-5-7-9-11-13 and exhaust camshaft caps 2-4-6-8-10-12-14.

  4. Remove the camshaft cap bolts gradually and in the sequence shown for each camshaft cap.
  5. Remove the intake camshaft and the exhaust camshaft.

  7. Remove the rocker arm shaft plugs at both ends of the cylinder block.

  8. Object Number: 1376051  Size: SH
  9. Remove the front and rear rocker arm shafts using the EN-47614  (1).
  10. Note: To prevent the oil from leaking through the pressure chamber, do not flip the cylinder head over when removing or installing the rocker arm.

  11. Remove the rocker arms.

  12. Object Number: 1376052  Size: SH
  13. Remove the valve spring retainer, valve spring, valve key, and valve stem using the EN 46569  (2) and the EN 47518  (1).

  14. Object Number: 1376053  Size: SH
  15. Remove the intake and exhaust valves.
