Removal Procedure
- Remove the battery and tray.
- Raise and support the vehicle.
- Remove the left engine under cover.
- Drain the transmission fluid.
- Disconnect the control valve body transmission control module (TCM) electrical connector.
- Disconnect the 2 oil cooler hoses from the radiator and put them aside.
- For 2.0S Diesel ONLY, drain the engine coolant.
- For 2.0S Diesel ONLY, disconnect the radiator hoses near the cover for the easy removal of the valve body cover.
- Remove the control valve body cover bolts (1).
- Remove the control valve body cover (2).
Note: Discard the seal. It is not reusable.
- Remove the control valve body cover gasket (3).
Note: Support the control solenoid valve assembly when removing the seal. Excessive pulling force can damage the internal electrical connections.
Note: Discard the seal. It is not reusable.
- Remove the control valve body cover wiring connector hole seal (4).
- Remove all traces of the old gasket material. Clean the transmission case and control valve body cover gasket surfaces.
Installation Procedure
- Install the control valve body cover wiring connector hole seal (4).
Note: Do not re-use the control valve body cover gasket.
- Install the control valve body cover gasket (2) to the control valve body cover.
- Install the control valve body cover (3).
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
Note: Install all control valve body cover bolts by hand, then torque all bolts in sequence.
- Install the control valve body cover bolts (4) and tighten to
12 N·m (106 lb in).
- Connect the control valve body TCM electrical connector.
- Connect the 2 oil cooler hoses.
- For 2.0S Diesel ONLY, connect the radiator hoses near the cover.
- For 2.0S Diesel ONLY, fill the engine coolant.
- Install the left engine under cover.
- Install the battery and tray.
- Fill the transmission fluid.
- Check for leaks.
