Note: Left-Hand Drive Shown, Right-Hand Drive Similar.

Warning: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning in the Preface section.




1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
3. Remove the nut at the compressor hose connecting block.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector at the pressure transducer.



5. Remove the nut at the condenser connecting block. (Gasoline Engine Only)



6. Remove the nuts at the condenser connecting block. (Diesel Only)



7. Remove the high-pressure pipe-to-receiver-dryer connecting block retaining nut. (Gasoline Engine Only)



8. Remove the surge tank. Refer to Radiator Surge Tank Replacement.
9. Remove the high-pressure pipe-to-evaporator flange connecting block retaining nut.



10. Remove the bolt and the nut which secure the clamps that hold the high pressure pipe to the vehicle.
11. Remove the high-pressure pipe from the vehicle.
12. Cap the opening at the receiver-dryer to prevent contamination.

1. Position the high-pressure pipe into the vehicle.



2. Install a new O-ring on the pipe at the receiver dryer.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

3. Install the high-pressure pipe-to-receiver-dryer connecting block nut and tighten to 14 N·m (10 lb ft). (Gasoline Engine Only)



4. Install the high-pressure pipe to-evaporator flange connecting block retaining nut and tighten to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).



5. Install the nut at the condenser connecting block and tighten to 16 N·m (12 lb ft). (Gasoline Engine Only)



6. Install the nut with discharge hose and tighten to 16 N·m (12 lb ft). (Diesel Only)
7. Install the nut with liquid pipe nut and tighten to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).



8. Install the nut at the compressor hose connecting block and tighten to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).
9. Install the bolt and the nut which secure the clamp that hold the high pressure pipe to the vehicle.
10. Connect the electrical connector to the pressure transducer.
11. Install the surge tank. Refer to Radiator Surge Tank Replacement.
12. Connect the negative battery cable.
13. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
