Removal Procedure

    Warning: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1256526 Size: SH

    Note: Left-Hand Drive Shown, Right-Hand Drive Similar.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement.
  3. Remove the instrument cluster trim panel. Refer to Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement.

    4. Object Number: 1256527 Size: SH
  4. Remove the steering column upper and lower cover. Refer to Steering Column Replacement.
  5. Remove the nuts and the bolts securing the steering column.
  6. Disconnect the steering column electrical connector.
  7. Lower the steering column.

  8. Remove the screw and the head amp (immobilizer de-modulator).

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1256529 Size: SH
  1. Install the head amp (immobilizer de-modulator) with the screw.

    2. Object Number: 1256527 Size: SH
  2. Raise the steering column.
  3. Connect the steering column electrical connector.
  4. Install the nuts and the bolts securing the steering column.

    5. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  5. Install the steering column upper and lower cover.
    6. • Tighten the steering column nuts to 22 N·m(16 lb ft).
    • Tighten the steering column bolts to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).

  6. Install the instrument cluster trim panel. Refer to Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement.
  7. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement.
  8. Connect the negative battery cable.
