Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection Except Auxiliary
Disconnection Procedure
- Open the rear compartment lid.
- Remove the left-hand cargo area carpet side access
panel (1) from the left-hand cargo area carpet side (2).
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.
Important: Clean any existing corrosion from the battery
terminal and the battery negative cable end.
- Remove the battery negative cable to battery terminal retaining nut (1).
Connect Procedure
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.
Important: Clean any existing corrosion from the battery
terminal and the battery negative cable end.
- Connect the battery negative cable to the battery.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the battery negative cable to battery terminal retaining nut (1), Tighten
the battery negative cable nut.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).
- Install the left-hand cargo area carpet side access
panel (1) in the left-hand cargo area carpet side (2).
- Close the rear compartment lid.
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection Auxiliary
Removal Procedure
Important: The auxiliary battery is located in the luggage
compartment in the RHS rear quarter panel cavity.
- Loosen and detach the auxiliary battery top cover retaining strap (1).
- Remove the auxiliary battery top cover (1)
from the auxiliary battery box (2).
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.
- Remove the battery negative cable to battery terminal retaining nut (3).
Important: Clean any existing corrosion from the battery
negative terminal (2) and the battery negative cable (1).
- Remove the battery negative cable (1) from the battery negative terminal (2).
Installation Procedure
- Install the battery negative cable (1) to the
battery negative terminal (2).
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the battery negative cable to battery negative terminal retaining nut (3).
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).
- Install the auxiliary battery top cover (1) to the auxiliary battery
box (2).
- Attach and tighten the auxiliary battery top cover
retaining strap (1).
- Test the vehicles electrical components for correct operation.
