DTC Descriptor

DTC B1244 00: CD-Player Disc Upside Down

DTC B1249 00: CD-Changer Disc Upside Down

Circuit/System Description

The radio performs a self test to verify if any problems exist in reading the CD.

Conditions for Running the DTC

The CD player/changer recovers from loading/ejecting error.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The CD player/changer experiences a loading/ejecting error.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

    â€¢ The radio displays a "Error Check Disc" message temporarily.
    â€¢ Disc is ejected and radio source is changed to tuner.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    â€¢ The condition for setting the DTC is no longer present.
    â€¢ The history DTC will clear after 50 fault-free ignition cycles.

Diagnostic Aids

Visually inspect the CD for physical damage or signs of abnormal wear, scratches etc.

Circuit/System Verification

  1. Ignition ON, with a scan tool clear all DTCs.
  2. Radio ON, play a known good CD. Eject and reinsert the CD several times and verify B1244 or B1249 does not reset.
  3. ⇒If the DTC resets, replace the radio.

Repair Instructions

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure.
