Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.
Notice: Refer to General Repair Instructions in the Preface section.
- Disconnect the battery ground cable from the battery. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
in Engine Electrical.
Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in the Preface section.
- Disable the SIR system. Refer to
SIR Disabling and Enabling
in SIR.
- Slide your hand around and under the inboard
side of the rear outer cover (1) until you get to the rear edge, then lift upwards
to disengage the retaining clip and remove cover.
- Using a long flat head screwdriver, prise the rear edge of the front outboard
cover (2) upwards, to disengage the clip.
- Slide the front outboard cover (2) forward to remove.
- Remove the rear inner cover, by sliding
your hand under the outboard side of the cover until you get to the rear edge, then
lift upwards and rearwards to disengage the retaining clip.
- Remove the front seat track cover (1) by
grasping the base of the cover and disengaging the retaining clip from the seat track
(2).

- Disconnect the front seat electrical connector (1), if fitted, and the seatbelt
pretensioner electrical connector (2).
- Remove the front seat rear retaining bolts
(1).

- With the aid of an assistant remove the front seat, by lifting and tilting the
seat forward, and then lifting and pulling the seat rearwards to disengage the front
hooks.
Installation Procedure
Important: Physically inspect each hook to ensure it
is correctly engage.
- Engage the front seat retaining hooks into the slots in the body and slide the
seat forward and down.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the front seat retaining bolts (1).
Tighten
Tighten the retaining bolts to 42 N·m
(31 lb ft).
- Connect the front seat electrical connector
(1), if fitted, and the seatbelt pretensioner electrical connector (2) and the side
air bag electrical connector, if fitted.
- Install the front seat rail cover (1) by
alining the cover with the seat track (2) and engaging the retaining clip.
- Install the front seat rear inner retaining
bolt cover (1) to the seat track (2).
- Slide the lug on the front outer cover (2)
into the outboard (1) seat rail.
- Ensure the barb on the front outer cover (located 10cm rear of the front
edge) engages with the carpet retainer trim.
- Slide the cover fully rearwards, then push the cover down to engage the
middle and rear most clip.
- Line up the alignment tab on the rear outer cover with the slot on the
front over cover.
- Push downwards on the rear outer cover (1) to secure it to the seat rail
and front outer cover. Listen for an audible click to confirm fitting.

- Enable the SIR system. Refer to
SIR Disabling and Enabling
in SIR.
- Connect the battery ground cable to the battery. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
.
- Test the front seat for correct mechanical and electrical operation.
