Draining Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.

    Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.

    2. Object Number: 1956947 Size: SH
  2. Clean away all dirt and debris from the transmission drain plug (1).
  3. Place a suitable container under the transmission.
  4. Remove the drain plug (1).
  5. Allow the system to drain completely.

    6. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  6. Install the transmission drain plug (1).

    7. Tighten
    Tighten the transmission drain plug to 28 N·m (20 lb ft).

Filling Procedure

    Object Number: 1956948 Size: SH
  1. Clean away all dirt and debris from the transmission fluid fill plug area (1).
  2. Remove the transmission fluid fill plug (1).
  3. Fill the transmission with DEXRON®-III transmission fluid, until even with the bottom of the fill plug hole.

    4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  4. Install the transmission fluid fill plug (1).

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the transmission fluid fill plug to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

  5. Lower the vehicle.
