DTC Descriptor

DTC B0953 00: Park Assist Audio Output Circuit

Circuit/System Description

The dual object detection system consists of an object alarm module, eight object alarm sensors, an object alarm speaker, and a switch. The object alarm speaker will sound as the vehicle approaches an object.

Conditions for Running the DTC

Ignition RUN

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The object alarm module has detected a malfunction.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

    • Park assist system is disabled.
    • The multifunction switch light will flash rapidly when the switch is pressed.
    • A chime will sound.

Conditions for Clearing

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness at the object alarm speaker.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the voltage circuit terminal 1 and ground.
  3. Ignition ON, engine OFF, transmission in REVERSE, the test lamp should illuminate.
  4. If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the voltage circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the object alarm module.
  5. Connect a test lamp between the low reference circuit terminal 2 and ground. The test lamp should not illuminate.
  6. If the test lamp illuminates, test the low reference circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the object alarm module.
  7. Test for infinite resistance between the low reference circuit terminal 2 and ground.
  8. If less than the specified value test the low reference circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the object alarm module.
  9. Ignition OFF, place an object behind the vehicle.
  10. Connect a test lamp between the voltage circuit terminal 1 and low reference circuit terminal 2.
  11. Ignition ON, engine OFF, transmission in REVERSE, the test lamp should illuminate.
  12. If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the object alarm module.
  13. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the object alarm speaker.

Component Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness at the object alarm speaker.
  2. Apply 2.5 V to the voltage circuit terminal 1.
  3. Apply ground to the ground circuit terminal 2, the object alarm speaker should sound.
  4. If the speaker does not sound replace the object alarm speaker.

Repair Instructions
