DTC Descriptor

DTC U2203: No Communication With Screen 1

DTC U2204: No Communication With Screen 2

Circuit/System Description

With the ignition in either the ACC position or the ON position the rear seat entertainment (RSE) interface module continuously sends a communication signal to the DVD screen/s. Upon receiving the signal, the DVD screen/s send a reply signal, confirming that they can communicate. DTC U2201 will set to indicate the DVD screen/s have not received a communication signal or replied when the RSE interface module has requested operation.

Conditions for Running the DTC

DTC U2203 and U2204 run continuously once a valid DVD screen response occurs.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The RSE interface module does not receive a response from the DVD screen/s after 3 consecutive communication attempts.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The rear seat entertainment system fails to operate.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • The current DTC will clear when the RSE interface module receives a communication reply from the DVD screen/s.
    • The history DTC will clear after 50 fault-free ignition cycles have occurred.

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the audio/video interface module and DVD screen harness connectors.
  2. Test the audio/video interface module and DVD screen; communication, power and ground circuits for short to ground or an open/high resistance.
  3. If the circuits test normal, repair or replace the effected circuit(s).
  4. If the circuits test normal, replace the appropriate DVD screen.
  5. If either DTC U2203 or U2204 resets, replace the Audio Video interface module.
