Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Bank 2 Sensor 2 NT3
Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution in the Preface section.
Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.
- Ignition Off.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
- Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S)
electrical connector (1) from the wiring harness.
- Remove the HO2S wiring harness from the transmission case.
Notice: Refer to Heated Oxygen and Oxygen Sensor Notice in the Preface section.
Important: Removal of the oxygen sensor is easier when
the engine temperature is above 48°C (120°F).
- Remove the HO2S (1) from the exhaust pipe.
Installation Procedure
Notice: Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Notice in the Preface section.
Important: New oxygen sensors should have a special
anti-seize compound already applied to the sensor threads. If you are installing the
original sensor, apply an approved anti-seize compound to the sensor threads.
- Install the HO2S.
Tighten
Tighten the HO2S to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).
- Connect the HO2S electrical connector (1)
to the harness connector.
- Install the HO2S wiring harness to the transmission case.
- Lower the vehicle.

Removal Procedure
- Ignition OFF.
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.
- Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution in the Preface section.
Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
- Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S)
electrical connector (1) from the wiring harness.
- Detach the HO2S wiring harness from the transmission case.

- Remove the HO2S (1) from the exhaust pipe.

- Lower the vehicle.
- Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
