For 1990-2009 cars only
- Lubricate the camshaft (2) journals and bearings with clean engine oil.
- Install M8 -1.25 x 100 mm ( M8 -1.25 x 4.0 in) bolts (1) in the front of the camshaft (2).
- Using the bolts (1) as a handle, carefully install the camshaft (2) into the cylinder block (3).
- Remove the bolts (1) from the front of the camshaft (2).
- Install the camshaft retainer (2).
- Install the camshaft retainer to cylinder block retaining bolts (1).
Important: All camshaft journals are the same diameter, so care must be used in removing or installing the camshaft to avoid damage to the camshaft bearings.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
Important: The gasket surface on the engine block should be clean and free of dirt or debris.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
